This one’s been a long time coming. To finally round off the Vulcanlog Monster Hunter stuff I own, the Kirin hunter! It’s amazing how far forward this figure’s torso can crunch, despite some quibbles this is a great example of the vulcanlog line. Really gotta pick up the rest of the vulcanlog and some of the older revoltechs at some point.

Top 10 Toys Of The Year (2016) - Vulcanlog Venom Snake - #6
This is the first year a representation of Snake is not in my top three o.o. Which means it was quite a fantastic year for toys! But unfortunately for as amazingly dynamic as Snake is - I couldn’t help but feel a bit limited in how he could be utilized. This is a very specific Yamaguchi issue which is now starting to hit me wrong the way. He is extremely dynamic.There is no limits to Venom’s pose-ability...but I can’t have him stand naturally. I think after years of having only Revoltech and PAK options for MGS toys put me in the mindset that I’d rather have the dynamic figure given the choice. But things are different now. Figma joined the MGS game. Figma Solid Snake was my Toy of the Year for 2015 and he definitely deserved it! He could stand and look badass, but also strike an action pose and still be equally imposing. Obviously different styles for different uses. This is also an extremely personal and opinionated view. And even in that I recognize the merit to this style. This is the style that got me back into toys! It was Revoltech and Yamaguchi who did that! But I think my tastes are starting to change now that other avenues have opened up and I still love this toy for it! But I think I want a bit more now.
