I really enjoyed this collection from Tarriona Ball. This was my first time reading her work and I really liked Ball's writing style. This collection is focused on the emotions that come with relationships and heartbreak. Also it explores the difference between love and infatuation. I really loved Ball's honesty and there is a real earthy feel to her poetry. She explores the topics with such a real take on it. My favourite part of the collection was the 'Tank's Story Time' pieces that were mostly prose and gave the reader real life insight into what the poetry was based on. I also appreciate the pieces that focused on Ball's culture and her experience as being a black woman. The art by Shonté Young-Williams was brilliant and creative just like Ball's writing and really complimented the words well. I really recommend this collection to poetry readers, especially if you're looking for a collection that isn't just a carbon copy of all the others.
