I was listening to a podcast that was talking about Will and Harry and they talked about how Will doesn’t have “it” the way they think they do compared to Harry and how it’s gonna hurt them in the long run. I was thinking about the quote “all publicity is good publicity” and when it comes to Harry and Meghan, even though they already have “it”, everything that’s gone down with them brings more intrigue and eyes on them. I don’t think the BRF or royal reporters who relish in the fact that W&K “play by the book and don’t ruffle feathers”, don’t realize that ultimately that’s so boring! There is a reason why their recent tour barely gained traction b/c nothing stands out with them, it’s just another royal tour. They don’t pack a punch the way Harry and Meghan do.

Absolutely. And it doesn’t help that everything w&k do is rinse and repeat, it all feels performative and repetitive.

They seem to think a crown will automatically earn you peoples’ respect and admiration. A crown is not a personality trait. Being white is not a personality trait. If all people have to say about you is that you’re going to be king/queen, then you’re doing something wrong.

Compare that mindset to some of the things Harry has said years back about using the role and privileges for something bigger; “ because I was given such privileged life, I’ll always be trying to earn the respect of people and use the platform to justify this privilege.” A title alone is not enough. Harry has charisma and charm that’s lacking in the other.

I know this might sound weird but I’ve never looked at Harry and gone, “ ohh he’s a prince that’s cool!” I never followed or knew that much about Harry prior to Meghan. But what I did see whenever the American media would report on him, was a good guy. I saw a man who genuinely cared about helping fellow servicemen and service women.

And learning more about him I’m seeing there’s a lot more to Harry than just “prince”.

I know I’m biased because I’m originally from a commonwealth country that is still bearing the scars of colonialism, but I’ve always thought the royal connection was the least interesting thing about Harry and Meghan. I’d still be interested in them / their projects if there was no royal connection. They are magnetic people that just draw you in. And their projects are always delivering tangible results.
