Honestly I was so thrilled when Lovelace pushed that door open because that’s the big difference between Hilbert and Lovelace. She’s willing to do absolutely everything with no regard for what could happen and she doesn’t give a shit about superstition. Meanwhile Hilbert can be paralyzed by his own mind and believes his work is so important that he can’t risk personal harm that leaves his work incomplete. He really gets caught up in himself, maybe more than I realized
But they’ve both faced being alone in space and they’ve both dealt with it differently in the past, in this same way. Hilbert waited and trusted Command needed him, analyzing the situation and deciding passivity was the way to go. Lovelace...well her approach was more chaotic, blow open all the door, jet the fuck back to Earth and take down a corporation.
I love how they share a certain pragmatism but they’re both so very very different. Their ethics are so different it’s a wonder that they can exist in the same air tbh
