3. Conduct an interview in front of the class with one person acting as the interviewee and the other person the interviewer. This interview role play should be based on a story or article from your magazine. This is a PAIR ACTIVITY and you will be marked as a pair with both people receiving the same score. Make sure you rehearse your interview and have good quality questions. [10 mks]
4. Select an article. Now, write down some facts from the article and some opinions from the article. [5 mks]
5. Write a description about someone (maybe even yourself) who has been in the same situation or experienced something similar to a story or article in your magazine. [5 mks]
6. Find someone you are MOST like from your magazine. How are you different/the same? [5 marks]
7. Find someone in the magazine you think does something interesting. Why? [5 marks]
8. Make a map of the world to plot 10 places mentioned in your magazine. [5 mks]
9. Write a trivia quiz of 20 questions for other people (make sure they're not too hard and not too easy!). [5 marks]
10. Make a model (you can use junk, Lego, dough, or whatever else) of an item described in the article. [5 marks]
11. Design a brochure explaining or advertising the topic featured in an article. [5 marks]
12. Draw a thinking map(mind map or flow chart) to show some information from an article. [5 marks]
13. Write a letter for the "Letters" section of the magazine on the computer. [15 marks]
14. Draw a picture about one of the stories or articles in the magazine. [5 marks]
15. Write your own captions to any 5 photos in your magazine. [5 marks]
16. Interview someone you know who has been in a similar situation or who knows something about the topic of the article. Decide upon up to 12 questions to ask and be sure to get your questions checked by your teacher first. [10 mks]
17. List arguments for and against a question raised in an article. Say what YOU think about those arguments, including which side of the argument YOU agree with - and give your own reasons for your opinion. [10 mks]
18. Transform the information from an article into another form, eg. diary, poem, short story, instructions, recipe, etc. Be prepared to share it with the class. [10 marks]
19. Find 5 words you don't know the meaning of. Use a dictionary to help you understand what they mean, then use them in a sentence of your own. Underline each of your chosen words. [5 marks]
20. Draw a comic strip based on a story. [10 marks]
21. Research, prepare and give a two minute speech in front of the class about a topic mentioned in an article. [10 marks]
22. Design a board game based on an article. [15 marks]
23. Conduct a survey (ask other students, teachers, other adults) to discover opinions about a theme in an article. Graph the results and report back to the class, telling everyone what you found out. [15 marks]
24. Design a GOOD index for your magazine. [15 marks]
