Roukan checked his watch. Elijah had only a few more minutes before the man would consider her 'late', though that may be more his fault than hers as he arrived ten minutes before their lunch meeting time was officially started. The wolf had found Miss Waters in the local city directory and had jotted down her address to send out an invitation to meet for lunch, branching off their conversation a few weeks ago and his initial suggestion of coffee. Unfortunately she had not called to him after giving her his card and he had hoped looking her up informally did not deem him as a 'stalker'.
No - he simply wished to talk with her bright young mind again. It was true that Roukan found Elijah like a fresh breath of air and she fondly reminded him of a small child many years ago - Matilda. He imagined if his sister had lived through the night of the town's burning, she would turn out like Elijah now was. Bright. Bubbly. Happy. If Roukan would have anything to do with it, Matilda wouldn't of needed a single thing in life. He wondered if Elijah had such a luxury.
His thoughts often turned to his family long lost and it never let him with good feelings. It was those times he would try to fight off the urges of the wolf and go and hunt and instead put himself to more creative means of either cooking, writing, or sketching. If the need was too great he would run or transform willingly, painfully, and disappear into the woods until the next morning. All options were not available so he found himself signalling a waiter over and ordering two french pressed coffees and a tray of fruit to start them off.
His mind drifted from the memories of his family to the smells around him. The age of coffee, the blood of medium-rare steaks, when the animal was killed. The thoughts fluttered to and fro and it left him off in his own crafted world for the time being. It was better than the latter, of course. He did not want to be in drowned spirits for the young woman. Not when they had much to talk about.
