Farewell, Tumblr

WADbot has been posting here since 2015, via Tumblr's queue feature. I typically queue up two weeks' worth of posts at a time, every other Sunday. Today it reached the end of its queue, and I'm sorry to announce that due to recent Tumblr leadership decisions, I won't be queuing up any more posts here.

I haven't yet decided on a new home for WADbot - it currently has a presence on Mastodon at [at] wadbot [at] botsin.space and on Cohost at [at] wadbot, but those posts just link back to the actual image posts which have always been hosted here on Tumblr. But I will leave this blog up as long as Tumblr itself is up, and I will post here (and on those other sites, if you want to follow there) when I decide what to do.

Until then, WADbot is on yet another hiatus. But fear not! There are still many more worlds of Doom out there waiting to be rediscovered. In the meantime, just in case any happen to interest you, I have several other non-Doom-related bots running on Mastodon and Cohost.

I recently added some functionality to this bot to allow it to post from a queue on Mastodon, which you can follow at [email protected]. With this tumblr abandoned and cohost gone, that is WADbot's new home. For those on that platform, see you there!

ebola.WAD: Ebola: 32 Ways to Die MAP14: Jump for it! (48, 256, 832) Author: Hyena Date: 2003-10-27 Description: Ebola made a TC called Hyena, so I thought it would only be fitting for me to make a Doom Project with his name on it. Essentially, this is just a fun collection of 32 badly-detailed levels, geared towards making the player die. Note: Most levels automatically exit after you die, so don't hit the space bar or you'll start the level over again. A few bugs do exist, so if you end up waiting a long time after dying, just hit space and try again. Note #2: MAP30 does not have an exit. Presumably you will just die. It's possible to survive, though. If you get stuck, that's why.

mayhem17.wad: Super MAYhem 17 (v1.1) MAP22: chocolate starfish islands (4544, 144, 32) Author: A buncha super schmucks Date: 2018-02-09 Description: Super Mayhem 17 is a 28 map set based on using assets from the various classic mario games. Maps were designed in one month with time after for making fixes and quality assurance. mayhem17_updatev1.wad contains a pair of critical fixes for map25, as well as new barrel sprites and sound effects for moving platforms.

biowar.wad: Operation BIOWAR MAP01 (488, 628, 0) Author: Chris Harbin, Paul Corfiatis, John Bishop Date: 1999-11-21 Description: Biowar is a doom2 megawad in the spirit of ICARUS and others. It consists of 18 regular levels and 1 secret level. The levels range from moderate to hard and are all very well done. Enjoy!

Valiant.wad: Valiant MAP15: Screams aren't a crime... yet (-1408, -96, 64) Author: Paul "skillsaw" DeBruyne Date: 2015-05-30 Description: Valiant is a MBF megawad for Doom II featuring 32 new maps spanning 5 themed episodes. Each map is designed to be played from a pistol start, but some effort has been made to support continuous play as well. Additionally, Valiant includes a number of new monsters and weapons implemented through an extensive MBF format DeHackEd patch. As a result, Valiant is not compatible with gameplay mods, and can only be played in ports with full MBF DeHackEd support. At present, these include ZDoom, GZDoom, PrBoom-plus (complevel 11), and Eternity. Zandronum is also supported through DECORATE.

lilith.pk3: lilith.pk3 MAP02: THIS ISNT ZDOOM (-592, 96, 0) Author: anotak Date: 2017-08-27 Description: i like to keep my doom 2 installation floppies attached to my computer with magnets so i don't lose them some can experience seizures when exposed to flashing lights or other visual stimuli. even if you've never been diagnosed, please be stop playing this wad if you encounter disorientation, lightheadedness, altered vision, involuntary twitching/jerking movements, or momentary loss of awareness/consciousness. i tried very hard to avoid anything that would cause physical discomfort but everyone is different this wad does not work with qz/gz/zandronum as it relies on the old zdoom software renderer and other quirks specific to zdoom (or zdoomLE). you need 2.8.1 or newer
