It gets cold in the alley, where Chara now effectively lives. Very cold. It makes it hard to sleep, and when Chara can’t sleep, they take walks. They’re taking a walk now, out in the middle of the night, through a park filled with trees, lit only by the occasional light.
They’re also freezing cold, even now, even in their sweater and hoodie. They’re clutching their arms and chest to keep from freezing in the cold, and their breath comes out in white clouds. If they stay out here too much longer, they’ll collapse.
But they don’t seem to notice. They just keep walking, up until they hear something. Something moving. Above them? They reach reflexively, pointlessly, for their toy knife. Whoever it is, they’re in the trees. Watching them.
“W-whoever you are,” Chara calls out, trying to keep their voice from stuttering. “L-l-leave me alone.”
