★— THERE WAS NO ESCAPE from the iron shackles of WAR; keeping the man that was born in such situations a PRISONER of the conditions that had constantly surrounded him. He had known nothing else BUT war, he hadn’t tasted peace -- there had been no reprieve, no sense of solace. 

             Luckily, T’Challa hadn’t been as closely involved in this particular war. Still with a vested interest, but --- kept a safe distance. 

            After everything that had happened he had decided to pay the man a visit. That being said, there was STILL some hesitation about approaching T’Challa after the events of the INCURSIONS. But right now, letting bygones be bygones, he sought the wisdom of a RULER to put his troubled mind at ease, or at least, to provide some insight. 

            ❛ I didn’t think I’d find myself in Wakanda so soon-- Heck, to be honest, I didn’t think I’d be leaving America so soon. I’m sure you’ve had your own issues to contend with here, but I need a word.  ❜

Pavel Chekov has ambitions.

Since numbers first danced under his fingers and since hecould tip his head back to look at the stars, he has had ambitions. Grand ones,some might say, that he knows will one day carry him further than any man hasever been.

His mother raised him well. They are not the selfishambitions of a spoiled child.

He dreams not of being a Captain of space mission, but ofbeing a worthy one. He dreams not of being the best navigator, but of being thenavigator upon which his crew can rely. Ambition is tempered by a goodness thatit is impossible to keep down; it seeps into everything that he is and does.

And so it stings, to realise that people think of hisambitions as somehow negative. Some weight to be carried. Some obstacle to beovercome.

There’s still a meekness to him that won’t be cured until helearns more of himself, but indignation curls hot around his heart and fuelshis fortitude.

“I think you are wrong,” he says, and his voice does nottremble. “I think I am driven by it. Without it, where would I be?”

False confidence loops around his words; he dares to believein his worth.

“Where would any of us be? We are doing a very great thing,and it is much bigger than me, or my ambitions. This, I know.” But hollow bonescan only hold courage for so long, and it is draining from him. Something inhis posture sits uncertain. “This is important. It is not the selfishness ofone man. Do you not see this?”

THE  EMBASSY  is so quiet,  every sound steve makes as he navigates through the halls sounds like war sirens.  each step he takes,  no matter how light ----  he fears will shake the building down to the foundation.  once he’s behind a closed door,  steve can finally release the breath he had been holding. sneaking in had been no easy feat  ---  IMPOSSIBLE,  steve’s sure had the wakandan king not allowed for it to happen.  steve lingers by the doorway with a smile on his face as he looks to the man at his desk,   ❝  -–  you weren’t gonna make that  EASY  for me,  huh ?    ❞
