Fic Rec: The Lighthouse by @walkingaline

Summary: Baby's sudden whims force Crowley and Dean to stop in a lovely coastal town. Unfortunately, something far more sinister than them has already claimed the place. This time, the choice between hunting the thing and saving the people will not be as easy as it might seem.

Not only was The Lighthouse perfectly eldritch horror and perfectly weird, but it also has the best tag I've ever seen: "Non-Consensual Monster Feeding (Chomp)." I really, really love all of @walkingaline's post-canon stuff, especially how incredibly well they always nail Crowley. He's such a smart fuckin' guy who hides a heart of gold behind a bunch of red smoke, and I desperately love his approach to any problem. Whether it's car maintenance or an eldritch super-monster controlling an entire town.

I don't want to spoil anything, but The Lighthouse is about Dean and Crowley on their way to a different hunt (which - honestly, I want to read that fic too), when the Impala "breaks" down and they're forced to stop for repairs in a town that All Things Considered Is Clearly Not Right. Crowley saves the day. Question mark? The eldritch element was so fun and perfectly creepy and such a good foil for the former King of Hell. 10/10 please read.

Fic Rec: MacLeod's Hunters Special by @walkingaline

Characters: Crowley (Supernatural) Castiel

Summary: Crowley and Castiel find a different way to keep hunters safe: a mechanic shop. (gen, post-canon)

Seriously: MacLeod's Hunters Special is one of the best and most fun fics I've ever read. It's 3k and I somehow still think I wrote the longest comment I've ever written. It is STACKED with creative magic, incredible humor, and it colors in Crowley's lines in such a fun way. I think @walkingaline is like seriously the writer of a generation and has such snappy and punchy lines, incredible pacing. So many good nods to Crowley's history and life. I feel embarrassed even talking about this fic because of how good it is.

MacLeod's Hunters Special is post-canon, gen fic of Crowley somehow both reluctantly-and-not-reluctantly partnering with Cas to run a mechanic shop for hunters. The premise is hilarious, but when you read you think: "why yes, of course. What else would they do?" So much heart, so much humor, I was seriously charmed the entire time.

Fic Rec: Switching Sides by @walkingaline

Fandom: Supernatural

Characters: Bobby Singer, Donna Hanscum, Crowley

Word Count: 1,604

Summary: Bobby Singer runs his own task force. He's spent a large part of the past two decades trying to catch the thief Donna Hanscum. Still, it looks like they might have a common acquaintance.

I already knew I was going to love this because @walkingaline could write a book about a pot coming to boil and I would be completely emotionally invested in it and it would be one of the best things I'd ever read.

Super fun example from walkingaline's AU roulette (can't WAIT to get to that scifi one eventually) where master thief Donna, FBI task force head Bobby Singer and kingpin Crowley are all basically in a masterfully-written Mexican standoff from beginning to end. Love that the power dynamics are constantly shuffled until the very last line.

The ending was delightful and shocking. Much appreciated since the last fic I read by walkingaline had me crying at 10:30 PM alone in my house.
