Showcase: Wallclouds
There is an undeniable urgency and powerful driving force at the core of wallclouds. This post-rock outfit from Oklahoma City has found their strength in “melodic noise,” a sonic & edgy niche with soaring vocals that bring light to the brooding instrumentals. What’s your hometown (or what are your hometowns)? Oklahoma City.
How did the band come together? How long has it been? The band formed after the break up of a few popular Oklahoma City bands ranging in genre. We have only been around for roughly eight months.
How have you grown since you started? During the duration of the band thus far, we have grown in mostly a sonic fashion, meaning that our temperaments towards experimentation and pushing ourselves to encompass the widest range of our influences musically and our non-musical influences.
What sets you apart from other bands? Our work ethic is definitely something that makes us different. Thus far, any task we have set our minds to we have exceeded our own expectations. Also, our tolerance for all things party.
What’s the best part about being in your band? The open platform for expression. We all decided that we should never limit each other’s musical stylings and the musings that flow from them.
More times than not, influences tend to bleed through. What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making? As Cities Burn, Glassjaw, Envy on the Coast, Armor For Sleep, The Junior Varsity, Deftones, Days Away, Circa Survive, Dear and the Headlights, Sparta, Thrice, and The Receiving End of Sirens.
