𝙱𝚁𝙸𝙳𝙶𝙴𝚁𝚃𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙰𝚁𝚃𝙴𝚁𝚂. / @wallflowred.
you’ll have to dance, anwyl. it is expected. dr. barthélemy’s patience, evidently, was not quite so boundless in the ballroom as it was in the operating theatre. lewis couldn’t resent the man, he supposed — he was, after all, here as hippolyte’s guest, and if he made an arse of himself, it reflected just as badly on hippolyte as it did on lewis himself. the censure of the rest of the room was one thing, but his own mentor’s disappointment was infinitely more difficult to stomach. resolving, therefore, to do his best to make some effort, lewis hailed the attention of the first girl to meet his gaze. “ miss... featherington. ” he had forgotten the vast majority of the names he’d tried to remember this evening, but the featherington girls had all been dressed so garishly that it had been rather impossible not to remember them. “ would you, er— may i ask for this dance? ”

“i lied and told him they were getting ready to bring out another platter of chou à la crème. it’s kept him standing by the pastries for the past two minutes or so.” she nods towards the direction of the dessert table, chuckling at the sight of colin still lingering around it and clearly looking out for any servants approaching. “now you don’t have to possibly listen to him and be bored to death about his time in greece and albania. i’m certain you’ve heard enough from his letters,” eloise says with a groan. admittedly she was jealous of colin’s recent adventures, but the way he’s droned on and on about them has quickly begun to annoy her. perhaps she would have found it less so if he could narrate his tales in a more engaging manner. “you are welcome.”
@wallflowred ! starter call.

not the first time he’d heard it today —— and anthony knew that he would be the talk of the ton now, considering that all of society’s ladies knew he was looking to get married. thanks, mother! still, he’s polite and turns to penelope, smile pulling at his lips. “ so i’ve heard. ” he remarks, turning his head back to the floor ( he takes note of the hopeful ladies who perk up as he does —— was this truly how it was to be the whole season? ). “ perhaps lady whistledown will be generous and this whole thing will be over quickly. ”
“I do trust you, Pen,” Colin replied, his eyes growing serious as he looked at his friend in confusion. “What is going on? What is wrong?”
@wallflowred sent: “I just need you to trust me.” @ colin !
