This is kind of a funny image.
“in his walrus way” makes Ahab seem kind of jovial, old, gruff, and goofy, though he is maybe only one or two of those things.
Are arms known to shrink? Legs run, but the “arm that can never shrink” seems an odd thing to say- as if normal people worry about that.
