📍PINNED POST📍
My name is Brianna Carmel. I am a 25-year old DIY musician + show promoter from Sacramento, CA who is in a few different projects.
I'd consider my main project to be my sadcore indie pop band, @bloomingheads.
We're in the middle of recording our debut album, but we've been around for a couple years, technically since late 2018. In the two years that we played shows nonstop before our current recording hiatus, we've opened for bands like Walter Etc., Crywank, and Hoity-Toity.
Here is our song Axis Access, which we submitted to NPR's Tiny Desk Contest.
I also recently joined my bandmate Josiah's main project, @little-tiny-knife. This band is very much their brainchild, a chiptune folk punk act whose music has touched my heart since I met them in 2016.
As you can see in a couple of these photos, LTK is technically a 3-piece; our bassist Jim is currently away doing Real Adult Things™️, but we're hoping for him to join us for our next show on April 2nd--we'll be opening for Local News Legend, with our friend Ash Bricky, at Golden Bear (21+).
Our debut single, Tired of Driving, is available now on spotify + bandcamp, and our next upcoming single, Roll Up Your Sleeves, is, quite frankly, a banger. Here's proof:
I'm also a solo artist in my spare time, I have been writing by myself since I was 16 and releasing my own music since I was 20.
I consider myself a singer-songwriter with a folk punk soul. My most recent solo release, the Building Blocks EP, has been described by @musicshelfwithmustard as "deeply personal and vulnerable ... as each track builds up and escalates into situations that should make a human feel uncomfortable."
In addition to all of this, I book + promote DIY shows in the Sacramento-area, under the moniker 916 Growth Gigs. I imagine this info is useless to anyone who isn't a DIY band touring through Sacramento, but, under this moniker, I am in the process of curating a compilation album of Paramore covers by queer DIY bands, to be released on bandcamp during pride month this year. All proceeds will benefit the HRC Foundation.
Currently, 16 tracks have been claimed, and it's looking to be a badass tracklist so far!
Here's a list of things I mainly post about // corresponding tags (may be updated as time goes on)...

I also reblog posts about bands + media that I enjoy; Paramore is my special interest, I really enjoy nerdy shit like Doctor Who, Star Trek, various anime series, etc.
If you enjoy my content and would like to support me directly, consider supporting me on patreon for a mere $2/mo.?
I’m not always tired but I’m usually peopled-out It won’t be long ‘til I move on from this and gracefully bow out It don’t take much to get along, I don’t need much to keep me strong I don’t talk much, I’m better off hiding where you can find me At my window, every morning Driving for days, still exploring
The remnants of my five-year-plan are shorter than my attention span I’m most always bluffing, still my conscience weighs nothing more than a ghost My love for adventure makes me a flaky friend at best Profoundly sad to admit, I’ll never get better than this
“No One Hits Me Up Anymore” by Walter Etc. (2017)
After about 3 years of wanting to do a music video for one of my favorite bands of all time, the starts finally aligned just right to let this happen! After talking with Dustin and deciding on a song, he pitched me the concept for this video of him being along in his room, hallucinating the band in his fish tank, and generally being a nutcase.
The idea of being stuck in the room led me to using the video for Green Day’s “Longview” as a reference. The feathers and stabbing of a pillow were a low-key shout out to that video as inspiration. The color palette of soft blue and yellow, as well as a soft white vignette added to the dreamy feeling of the music video, a concept that meshes really well with the overall theme of the band. This band is perfect, Dustin is one of my favorite songwriters of all time, and if they aren’t bigger than the Beatles soon I will be very disappointed in the whole planet.

Tally Ho!
Hello world!
For a guy who would naturally not do much social media if he wasnt in a band, there is so much social media to keep up with! But you know, MNE blog will always be the home base for #thoughtsandfeelings...
So Walter Etc. has this split with Diners that is streaming at Gold Flake Paint today. LISTEN TO IT HERE.
The Diners side is really beautiful and innovative. Tyler not only writes really catchy and charming songs, but his instrumentation is always quirky and fun, like a 20teen’s Beach Boys which of course I love. We are really stoked to get to share a release with such a legendary band. Hopefully we can do more together in the future?
I’m stoked on our side as well. I think the recordings are a little funny cause they sound good but also the cymbals sound washy and I would have mixed it a little differently if we had more time and blah blah blah. We recorded it with our good friend Marc at his home studio last January and had a blast making it with him. I wrote Night Swim pretty much write before we went into the studio which is normally not something we’d do, but with the LP already recorded we felt this freedom to really stretch our own boundaries and just see what happens. Also, Every Lousy Paradise was a song that was going to be on Every Town Needs A Cowboy but I never finished it. Then I finished it in Nicaragua in 2014 and we’ve just been playing it for ourselves since. I’m glad its gunna live on through this split.
Welp there’s a record release show at The Echo in LA on 6/24 w/ Diners and Peach Kelli Pop and I think everyone should go to that. It’ll probably be low key legendary. HERE’S THE TICKETS TO THAT. It’s also super cheap which is chill.
Also you can buy the split from Lauren Records here.
Also we’ll have it for sale on MNE very soon too.
Okie have a good one everybody,
- Walter
