The Pitch
My task for my advanced online media class this week was to walk around downtown Phoenix on a warm, February afternoon in search for a story that I would later pitch to my professor. That was all. Although I was excited to set off on an adventure during class time, I had never truly wandered around downtown before, and I was a little nervous about being unable to find what I was looking for, although I wasn't exactly sure what that was at the time. In short, Phoenix did not disappoint. I found myself at the Roosevelt Row Arts District, walking by thrift shops, art galleries and cafes- none of which I knew had existed before. Here are a few photos of what I found:

This coffee shop and the street and sidewalk art all over the area reminded me of Portland.
Suddenly, I realized what my pitch would be.
Story: Roosevelt Row Arts District: the Urban Revitalization of Phoenix
Multimedia: The sights and sounds of RoRo. Both in the morning and afternoon and in the evening.
Focus: Narrative of the exploration of the arts district, in a linear form, which helps tell the story of the event in a connected way, describing the experience from the street to the coffee shop to the sidewalk art and open art areas, for instance.
Engagement: Interactive map of RoRo intertwined with photos of the area throughout the day and stories of separate experiences there.
