Oh, this was soooo satisfying. Wang Pu strikes me as the sort of person who isn't used to getting outsmarted, so I was looking forward to seeing his crashout when it happened. It was very fun to see that creepy smile wiped off his face.

Interesting off-screen interactions among the actors, it's a delight to witness them 👌
I absolutely love this framing they did in this scene
Just Huai'an with his white/grey hair ‹I was gonna say something else but I forgot cuz I just kept staring at the ss.. he's such a pretty boy›
The enemy might think, 'found em' but no this man has known your location all a long. He doesn't plan to hide that fact either.
Me too bro me too I was missing him as well
There he is!!
Saw another person saying that Huai'an should just requite this guy, on one side it could very much happen but on the other side... yeah perhaps not. I love Wang Pu as a character cuz he's a little bitch but also that makes me love him so much more because I'm getting lost child vibes from him and I love him for that.

Chang An (长安): Shortened perspective
Also this meowmeow in The Vendetta of An has never done anything wrong. What? Burning people? Him? Well..
Wang Pu is a sadistic sociopath who is genuinely scary and the actor is doing such a good job. Such a great character!
The Vendetta of An, more than once: this character you like is going to die/is dead and in this world that means they stay dead because we prefer ripping your heart out repeatedly over giving characters a way out
Me, every time, somehow: surely this one is the exception. What do you mean the character is dead that doesn't sound right. There's got to be a miraculous way out right? I've watched enough TV to know how this goes.
Anyway guess who was caught off guard by Wang Pu's death.
But I do think that Wang Pu's death was interesting. Because Wang Pu walked into the trap knowing that it was a trap, after Yan Fengshan explicitly told him that he wouldn't be able to defeat him. And even after all of that, after being so thoroughly outsmarted by Xie Huaian before, he still goes in and tries to defeat him at his own game. But Xie Huaian is thinking so many steps ahead that they're not even playing the same game.
As for Xie Huaian, this feels like a bit of a return to the earliest episodes — a little reminder that Xie Huaian isn't afraid of killing to further his own goals. Killing Wang Pu is a warning and a declaration of war all in one — a reminder to Yan Fengshan that he's out there, that he's coming after him, and that he's capable enough that he can kill the person closest to him right in front of his eyes.
I also think it's interesting that Wang Pu gave up on the idea of revenge for the sake of the family he gained later almost immediately, while Xie Huaian exists only for his revenge at the cost of the relationships he has now.
