Thoughts on Melanie choosing to blind herself? It’s not discussed enough but it’s such an important moment and speaks volumes not only to her character but the how the fears work as well

YES YES YES i definitely think that the introduction of the possibility of just...leaving the fears behind and being able to ESCAPE this awful cycle was so interesting!! like before this with the intro of the idea that like, you can’t quit the archives, and the fears will haunt you forever if they get a hold of you etc. made it seem really inevitable as to what their fates would be, but with melanie TAKING that leap and gouging her eyes out it just like, flipped the podcast into a new light for me? obviously it is such an intense sacrifice but like...that idea of what are you willing to give up in order to experience freedom again is so so interesting, as well as thinking about how you would escape the other entities? the eye obviously has like the physical element of your EYES and also the kind of....contract esque vibe from being a part of the institute, but how would you escape the web or the spiral for instance?? ARE there ways to escape those kinds of entities??

Red SIgnal would be a pretty fun one to wake up to, because the chant is fairly soft and then there’s a beat of silence followed by “AND THE WALLS BEGIN TO TEAR. NOT OF THE TRAIN BUT OF A FALSE AND HOLLOW REALITY” and I imagine you’d just shoot out of bed at that gdhsjkfhds
