Humans possess free will. It is therefore not surprising that they choose their own good as paramount. But how much self-denial does it take to put a gun to another's head and mete out divine justice by taking an innocent life? Even if our own is not in danger, and a child stands before us.
War blurs various boundaries and places new ones in their place. It is up to us whether we accept them or attempt to overthrow them, but then are we not on a par with our predecessors?
Carakal is a soldier, someone's son, brother, friend from school. Today, he distrusts, keeps to the sidelines, and observes. He appears, does his job, and disappears into the shadows. He carries with him a small baggage of experiences that have changed him: war, violence, a lack of boundaries and humanity.
