now he’d had time to think it over, tony knew he’d acted rashly when he’d seen that footage. in that moment he’d been ready to kill bucky; he’d seen red and he’d been ready. did anybody expect him to react differently? all these years the truth of his parents death had been a lie. but it wasn’t just steve who knew the truth, it was fury, it was natasha, heck they probably all knew, didn’t they? but after seeing that footage something inside tony had snapped and he couldn’t help but make a lunge at him, at both bucky and steve. steve was supposed to be his friend and he’d always known. 

would he have reacted differently if steve had told him beforehand? probably. he’d have time to think it over and process it but after having that time now, he realized it didn’t matter. had he had time it wouldn’t have ended the way it did. he understood. hydra had messed up bucky’s mind, they’d broken it, fastened it back up and turned him into something he wasn’t. 

tony wasn’t going to be the guy to hold that against him. he needed to talk with him.
