Saving water - bath together - take 2
Further to my previous post on saving water, showering (or bathing) together, my now 4 year old has decided she's too old to bath with mummy now. It happened quite suddenly, the week before her 4th birthday. It was kind of a sad moment, it had been very sweet, as well as handy, bathing altogether, but the bath was getting a bit small... Anyway, I like that she made the decision, it tells me that she was ready to make the decision for herself.
We're still saving water of course, because the 2 kids still bath together, and now that I'm not getting in the bath, I put less water in for them!
Save water - shower together!
Well in our case, bathe together! Since my eldest was about 18 months, we have shared a bath most nights for various reasons:
I don't want to have to lean over the edge of the bath to wash her, comb her hair, etc, to avoid getting a sore back
I don't know when I'll fit in time to have my own shower (morning or night)
It saves water.
Before that, we used an excellent bucket bath which used only a couple of litres of water, which I then used to empty out on the frangipani plants (who grew wonderfully for a time!). It was really quite brilliant, but she grew out of it before she turned two.
Bathing together is great because it's vaguely relaxing for me, as we add lavender oil (well, that relaxes all of us!), and I get to soak my feet and legs at least in shallow water! I also get to have a bit of a play with the girls and their bath-toys, and humour the inner-child...
It also means we're all clean for bed, relaxed from the lavender oil, and ready to wash our teeth, pick some books, say goodnight to daddy and go to bed!
It will definitely be sad when they're too big for me to fit in the bath with them. By then they will be old enough to wash themselves without TOO much help, I hope!
