Dust lives with Knife, Knowing and their family, and I thiiiiink so does Fang, but he actually wasn’t home and didn’t show up until after Marder had left, so I didn’t get a picture of him. Dust’s interactions with his landlords were actually quite funny though.
Dust, who was raised mostly by Wind, the absolute master of fussing over his younger siblings: <<Oh no! A small child is in distress!>>
Zip and Pretty: <<Here we go again.>>
Pretty watched the weird, little boy talk with Promise, who basically just kept enthusing about the upcoming winter, even though it was barely autumn yet. He was sort of quiet, but he talked. Unlike certain other boys.
At least he hadn’t stolen their bathtub yet.
There wasn’t much company for Marder. With both his parents working hard and no companions his age, he was inevitably drawn to their neighbor’s. Zip immediately schooled him on the importance of toys, to which Marder didn’t have much access. He was backed up by two of his brothers and Marder had no choice but to marvel at the amazing possibilities. With four boys, what fun games would suddenly become possible? What heights of entertainment could be reached? He was in awe, and he was already determined to come back.
[I’m incredibly proud I remembered Zip’s name, Knife and Knowing’s kids are seemingly all boys and all look the same]
Mask: “Hey there, Marder. You alright?”
Marder: “Birthday!”
Mask: “Oh, alright. Get to it. Spider, you okay?”
Spider: “SHUT UP, YOU PIECE OF DIRT, I’M IN UNBEARABLE PAIN!”
Mask: “Oh, alright. I’ll just ... go make me a salad.”
And so Marder aged up and revealed himself to look almost exactly like a chubbier version of his father (with his mother’s eye color). Spider, meanwhile, gave birth to Fisher without any major trouble, despite being getting rather too old for more babies.
With their house a lot more completed and their future saved, Knife had the luxury of being able to go and buy some food, instead of foraging or outright stealing it.
They did finish their house pretty quickly, but almost all they do is work on crafting the furniture they need and forage for seeds and mushrooms. Mask had a steady routine of working on building a fridge/bed/cribs for the kids/etc. until he was hungry, running off to find a mushroom, eat it, and go back to working.
Since I realized almost immediately after they rolled the “devastating fire”-event, Wind’s family was faaaar too big to survive being essentially homeless for longer than two days or so. While I divided them into households that would be willing to take them in, Spider and Mask adopted a cat in the five seconds I didn’t pay attention to them. So now they have a cat. It’s name is Pigsy.
Also: Spider and Mask have horrible timing.
