#watersafetywednesday Water Safety is an important aspect of #mermaidatanyage so I attended the @natural_disaster_expo to see what the first line of defense is as far as local government preparedness for #drowningprevention during water based natural disasters. I learned a lot of things about the technologies that are currently available however I realize the best thing for individuals who don’t know how to swim is to #learntoswim as sea level rise and other man made causes to natural disaster increases were not fully addressed by a lot of these industries and products #swimlessons many companies and agencies underestimated individual education and awareness for how to even survive long enough to be rescued by first responders……. People like @bytamekaaquatica will still be the first line of defense for individuals who find themselves caught in storms that dump massive amounts of water into their communities, roadways, and into their very homes….. #swimminglessons at the end of the day, yes the first responders are coming because they are trained, ready, and willing to save the people in their community but WE are still going to have to make sure that there are survivors left to reach…. Do not underestimate the need for individual preparation for the storms that are on the horizon. We must be ready. And we can’t start to get ready tomorrow.
