West wasn’t sure how to respond to that statement. It wasn’t something he knew much about, their old family dynamic. He couldn’t tell if River was just making an excuse for why they seemed to have trouble being open with each other, or giving West an excuse for being as closed off as he seemed to be. It was mostly because he didn’t have much to tell River.

Faraday couldn’t help but take a slightly defensive tone. He knew it was a figure of speech and this new guy probably wasn’t thinking twice in the company that was present. Besides that, who was this guy to judge?
