Fishing on the Beach
Okay, this is a thing for anyone who fished on the beach. And I don't mean you go out on a boat and fish peacefully away from any beaches, you guys are cool, I mean those of you who wander into the waves to fish right off the beach.
Let's start with bait. If you use meat chunks of God forbid bloodied meat chunks, stop. Stop it now. Sharks have an acute sense of smell and will come. If there's other people in the water, stop. http://www.amnh.org/learn/pd/sharks_rays/rfl_myth/myth_page5.html
If you're using a hook, and there are other people in the wwter , no matter how far in or out, stop. The hook could get detached from the line. I don't care how secure you say it is, it could still hurt someone. A friend of mine had surgery because of a detached fishing book at the beach.
If you're fishing off the beach, and there are other people around, stop. You may be fishing for smaller stuff, but that brings in the things that day that small stuff. You're training those bigger things to come to that spot for food.I
I was at the beach this summer, and this guy was going out with a massive book and bloodied bait right in the waves near where my eight an eleven year old brothers were swimming. Nothing happened, but the results could have been disastrous. Please stop wading out on beaches to fish.
