Calipari makes pitch for fans to by more tickets to Sept. 15 alumni charity game
UK has yet to sell out the lower bowl for the Sept. 15 Alumni Charity game at Rupp Arena, and head coach John Calipari is "a little disappointed."
In a message on CoachCal.com, Calipari urged fans to purchase tickets to the game to help welcome back former players and their families while also supporting several charities.
He outlined answers to some fan concerns about the game:
No players will be paid to participate in the game.
UK can't promote which NBA players will be there, but Calipari says "a lot of the guys you want to see will be back."
Derek Anderson, Wayne Turner, Tony Delk, Antoine Walker, Jeff Sheppard, Walter McCarty, Anthony Epps, Jared Prickett and Oliver Simmons of the 1996 national championship team will be in attendance, and several will participate in the game.
Former Wildcats Randolph Morris and Perry Stevenson will be participating.
Calipari also notes "we may have some other special people visiting that weekend who will want to see what the Big Blue Nation is capable of," most likely referring to recruits who will be on campus that weekend.
Tickets for the alumni game can only be purchased at the Rupp Arena box office, online at Ticketmaster.com, at any Ticketmaster Outlet or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. All remaining seats are reserved and priced at $40 (lower level) and $20 (upper level). There is a four-ticket limit per person. Online orders and phone orders will have additional fees attached.
