should juniper be cast on unpretty rapstar - that’s the question. she knows its going to come up. juniper can’t wait (read: can aboslutely wait, would rather not ever deal with) the criticism that will likely arise. she’s not even the main rapper! they’ll shout at her. it’s a fair criticism, but ellie’s already done the show, so what, is ellie supposed to do every season? is that the rule somehow? which will bring them around to part two of, why do we even need another jawbreaker girl on the show, they did it already. to which she’d point out helpfully enough that it was actually a her.oine member, adn that it wasn’t her fault she’d signed with the dumbest possible company and was now playing the rookie exposure game fortyfivetrillion years into her career still.
maybe her appearance on the call will help. she’d been hoping it would draw attention to her dual skills - she has them, promise! and she was hoping maybe it would get people to pay attention to the fact that, while she might not be strictly performing all the raps, she’s writing them. at least some of them. she can do it.
what she’s scared of the most, though, are the comparisons. not with ellie - they’ve got quite disparate styles and she’s comfortable with that, confident in her capabilities. she’s scared of the comparisons to her father, however. with his career, his talent, his skills to live up too, she’s sure she’s going to fall flat. so she’s working doubletime, overtime, and then some.
which means she’s seeking out a friend, the current front runner (or at least a promising participant, as far as she’s concerned) on show me the money. maybe she can pick his brain for insight into the sibling program, the methodology, what she can expect during filming, what might be demanded of her. she’d like to play cool about it, but she shows up to their designated meeting spot, a recording studio her father makes use of frequently. she slaps the notebook in her hand down onto the table, tucks her hair behind her ear and clicks the top of her pen, brows lifting. “okay. tell me everything, aroon, because i’ll be honest with you i’m so fucking nervous about this show i might just - “ she strangles off with a gesture that seems to mean nothing, just a harried flurry of hands. korean has failed her and english isn’t doing much better. “die.” it seems the closest to the maelstrom in her chest, gut.
