Thoughts on ShashaGorya (EP 4-6)

These two are still my favourite couple by a large margin. Infact, they're the only canon couple I like currently. I'm glad they finally gave Shasha a personality. Now she's easily one of the most complex characters on the show.

I'll start with her. Shasha is a very lonely and insecure character. She's desperate for companionship but her reputation is working against her. People make assumptions about the way she will act or react to situations and dismiss her. It doesn't help that there are occasions where she actively affirms the narratives placed on her by acting the way people expect her too.

I think sometimes Shasha gets frustrated by all the judgement and decides to prove people right. She's a very transparent person yet people refuse to take her at her word. I also believe that her social isolation serious hinders her ability to form new connections. We see this the most in her relationship with Gorya. She reaches out earnestly, trying to get Gorya to open up to her. When that fails she reverts to provocation. She would rather have Gorya mad at her constantly if that means keeping a sliver of her attention.

Unfortunately for her, while this method works in the short run it does little to endear her to Gorya. Speaking of Gorya, she's still the best character on this show. I genuinely don't think she's done anything wrong. I wish she would give Shasha the benefit of the doubt but I understand why she doesn't. They made progress last episode. I hope it continues.
