I'm still working my way through a mass amount of fics I haven't read for CS. I'm thankful for the discord where there is a treasure trove of amazing artists and fic recommendations. This one got saved for reading about 2 months ago and I finally got around to devouring it and OMG I loved it so much I read it in a day! I loved the Sci Fi and it was so easy to imagine this world and the characters in here were perfect! (of course the CS is beautiful, but I loved Will and Robin so much in this fic) If you haven't read this, please do!

Self-promo Sunday

Darlings - may i interrupt your scrolling for a brief moment with a self-promo Sunday rec?

Basically, all i want to tell you - apart from the fact that i think i may have peaked with this one - is that i’ve gotten some asks about its futuristic nature, and wanted to tell whoever is worried about the dystopian cyberpunk elements, that they are not so material to the story as to be offputting.

i don’t think.

At its core it is a very human story about love and connection (since that is my jam, always and forever) which is simply wrapped into a dystopian envelope with a few nods to cyberpunk along the way.  So.  Just in case this was a deterrent, well - i mean, go with your gut.  Of course.  i just wanted to tell you that it’s the world of the story, but not its substance.

Also there’s the fact that this is the hardest thing i’ve ever written (with the exception of the fic currently trying to kill me) and most likely the best thing i’ll ever be able to able to write.  

i told you.  i think i peaked with that one.

CS Fic Rec Monday: “we kill the flame” by: @thisonesatellite

Okay, so admittedly, I may very well have recc’ed this story before. But it’s SO GOOD!  The futuristic, dystopian setting is quite different from the sort of fanfic I usually seek out, but I couldn’t stop devouring it from the very first chapter. The sort of team unit Emma and Killian become in this, the one point of hope and light in a very dark world that they become for each other, you just have to experience it for yourself!

Anyway, one of the final scenes in this story just wouldn’t leave my head. So much so that I finally had to try to give it art - which, fair warning, is by no means my strong suit!  All the same in honor of Fic Rec Monday, and to encourage those who might have missed this fic to read this scene for themselves, have a little “we kill the flame” scene sketch...

“Please don’t stop.”  He’s stiff as a board and looking at her like she’ll break if he breathes, when nothing could be further from the truth.  She feels whole for the first time in years. Whole and undamaged and--- unafraid. And the truth is - she needs this as much as he does.

“Please, Killian.”  She cups his cheek with her good hand and his eyes close as he leans into her touch.  “Please don’t stop.”‘
