First Paroh and the Mitzrim came for us, and we broke free while they went down like stones in water
The Babylon came for us, and their end came
Then Haman came for us, and he was hung, his name obliterated
Then the Yevanim came for us, and from miracles we established eight days of celebration
Then the Romans came for us, and we fought and survived until today, when we have Eretz Yisroel once again.
There are so many examples of people trying to wipe out the Jewish people and their culture. I could go on about the Inquisitions, the Farhud, the Holocaust, pogroms, expulsion from Arab lands. I could go on about so many instances of Antisemitism in the history, and modern day happenings, of the world.
But guess what?
We survived. They go down like stones in water, they face their end, their names are obliterated while we're still here.
We're still here.
We will mourn. Because a Jew is a Jew is a Jew, am echad shir echad v'lev echad. We are one people, one voice, whether we're in Australia or Colorado, California or Israel, and what hurts one of us hurts all of us.
We will mourn.
And, after that, we will rebuild. Because a Jew is a Jew is a Jew, am echad shir echad v'lev echad. And in this world, we are never alone.
