And I'll Tell You All About It When I See You Again II Xavier and Lehnsherr
Erik had kept his distance from Charles' mansions since arriving in New York. He'd settled down in an apartment not too far away, though. He was close enough that the two of them could hold a conversation without the aid of Cerebro. Erik often found himself reminiscing about the past, when he was young and so full of rage, and how Charles had managed to calm the storm within him. He laughed at himself during those times. What a sad old man he'd become.
He lounged about on the sofa, hardly paying any attention to the news that played on the television. It showed another heroic display from the X-Men. He scoffed and sipped at the glass of scotch in his hand. "They still believe peacekeeping will get rid of their hatred. How naive are those students in your school, Charles?" Erik knew he wasn't really alone. His dear friend always liked to keep an eye on him. Whether that was to see if Erik would slip into old habits or if he truly cared about the man himself remained to be seen.
He glanced over to an old photograph that hung framed on the wall. It was of himself and Charles, lounging about in the mansion when they were still young. They were smiling. There was more reason for Erik to smile back then. When had it all changed?
