Web Usability Audit: Cosmetic Facelift Microniche Site
One of the most important aspects of creating a great website is user experience design, or optimizing your web design to increase usability while not sacrificing aesthetic visual appeal. Creating a great user experience is important because the less your visitors have to think in order to use your website to get the information they need effectively, the better. The more confusing, cluttered and visually unappealing your website is, the less attractive it is, and you'll more than likely see a higher bounce rate, less activity on your site, a decline in traffic and less interaction.
User Experience Design Audit: Cosmetic Niche Site
Here is a live user experience audit I performed for a client assessing their website. With their permission, I'm able to share my candid thoughts about the user experience while navigating the site, which will serve as a platform to help them revitalize their site for increased web rankings, traffic, improved usability, and overall, a great site experience that forces people to scratch their heads and figure out what they're looking at and what they're supposed to do - or even if it's a "real" website.
This is my first live audit - so I'll admit I'm a bit nervous. With that said, if you have any suggestions on what I could have mentioned or done better during this audit, and any feedback you'd like me to add for this customer, who plans to revamp the website on her own, feel free to provide your feedback below. Trust me, it's greatly appreciated.
Note: This audit does not focus on SEO. An SEO audit is much more intensive. This is an overall user experience design audit that focuses on whether or not customers will find what they want and need, not whether they can find the site from a search engine like Google or Yandex.
If you'd like to volunteer your website for a design audit to be featured on a future blog post - contact me today. (Private audits are also available. Feel free to inquire.)
