Hey guys!!! So it’s spring break at WAC, and like most breaks, I choose to spend mine with Habitat for Humanity. This year, we traveled to glorious Winston-Salem, NC. We drove down here yesterday and today was our first full “work day”!!!! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Habitat, to quote the website, “We build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter” but it’s such an amazing group to be a part of.
Today we woke up and ate breakfast and was out the door by 8:45. We went straight to the Restore here and got right to work! The restore is a place where donated furniture and other things go that Habitat sells for really low prices and all the proceeds go directly to operations and back to the community.
After the work, we went to the YMCA to shower and then we headed back to the volunteer lounge. We had a delicious dinner provided by the affiliate and then hung out for a while.
Tomorrow, we’re building walls!!! So I’ll be back tomorrow to let you guys know how that goes! (Shoutout to my good friend Heber for the Gus picture!)
