Start. Go. Do Something. Anything.

In some instances its easier to ‘hack’ this and get momentum going in your favour, but in 99% of other cases it all comes down to whether or not you let the resistance win.

Read ‘The War of Art’ by Steven Pressfield...I’ve been revisiting this book regularly to try to keep myself oriented and conscious that the feeling of lethargy that’s keeping me from getting started is myself allowing the resistance to win. For me this is waiting until later in the day to start editing, not replying to an email when I first see it or taking a bit too long to close a computer or put my phone down when my kid asks to play. They’re small. But they’re getting in the way of me doing the things that are important. It feels like losing to myself.

And the feeling of losing to yourself because you decided to avoid getting started...sucks!

So yeah...it’s a video.  You may be thinking “But Joel, I thought you were a photographer...indecisive much?”.  And you’d be mostly right.

I’ve been working on wedding video jobs for the last few years and have started to pull back as they’ve gotten more and more complex with more people, more gear, more moving pieces and on and on and on.  But when Cam got in touch and I mentioned I wanted to go a new route he and Erin were both on board.  Nothing over the top...no team of video folks.  Just a camera, a couple and a great story.  I think it turned out pretty well.  This was my first time at the Cotton Factory in Hamilton and it was a dinger (That means good).  Maybe there’ll be more of these, maybe not.  Either way, it was fun to make!

Hacienda Sarria Summer Wedding - Kitchener, Ontario

Soooooooooooo...this one is a wee bit overdue, but better late than never. Right?!  Anyways, Hacienda remains one of those super cool places that’s just got a really mysterious vibe to it.  Kinda hard to explain but it’s magical, elegant, stately, soft and curious all at the same time.  On top of all of those qualities it makes for a pretty stunning background for a wedding celebration.  And that’s what these two did...threw a big ‘ole party with all their family and friends.  It was a good time.
