Dear slidewhistlebj, the person who has one of the funniest usernames on tumblr. Hi! I write to you on this week because I sincerely believe you have some of the best fics in this fandom, and I say that in a fandom that is full of incredible writers. Your little two parter: memo: stop saying HR sucks we can see your email chains is TO THIS DAY one of my favorite kingdon fics. It's funny, it's sweet, it has Frank being so down bad for Mel and Mel being so down bad for him as well, but I need to emphasize how fucking funny it is. You write with such a love for details, and you can feel every emotion the character goes through and it pierces your THROAT. It's incredible, and especially in this little two parter you can shift from a moment of levity to shame, to awe in just instants. You're amazing. You're also!! Such a multifacted writer!! Because you also wrote the HOT AS FUCK (emphasis necessary) fic called "Boundaries? What Are Those?" with that free use Frank as a musician with Mel as his PA who is the only one who can get him to do things, that stumbled on my dash a few days ago and I had to re-read it and it's still. So. Good.  Not only smut and hilarious fics, you also have "as i stand here" which is a haunting fic about Mel who finds herself on a ledge, frozen and about to end her life, and you write this terrifying moment is such a poetic but grounded way, every sentence you write has it's impact, and the line it begins with it absolutely haunting: The wind catches Mel’s hair like a dozen little hands, tugging her forward ever so sweetly.  Everything you've written is awe inducing, everything you do drives me insane and if anything comes from this I hope people latch onto your fics and go as crazy as I do over them because they're brilliant works of art and everyone should be lucky enough to read them. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about “Squonkapalooza is for lovers” since I first read it. It’s one of the most perfect established relationship fics for the ship that I can think of. They’re both just SO devoted to each other, and there’s so much humor and heart that I get all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. I love when they’re both weirdos in fic in general, but this has such a softness to it that truly makes it special. If I could leave kudos 1,000 times for it I would.

no one does magical realism like you! the garden has gone mad was one of the first kingdon fics i read, and it’s such a gorgeous piece of writing. the language you use really transports you to that magical forest, and the tropes fit so well with both the setting and the relationship between mel and frank.  thank you for all the stories you’ve blessed kingdon nation with, they’re all a delight!

You can't expect me to form a coherent thought about this fic because it drives me absolutely crazy, but I'm going to try my best. There is not a single word wasted here. I love fics featuring Mel with a bf and the tension it creates between her and Frank. This fic is a goddamn masterpiece. I start losing it when Frank says, "Did he make you fucking cry?" and never manage to get a grip on myself again. By "If he’s the one that gets you, he can’t fucking waste it,” I'm fighting to pick myself up off the floor. Frank's unwavering devotion despite everything, Mel's guilt at making the wrong decision, Frank opening the conversation up one more time. And then the payoff!!! I could sing this fic's praises forever tbh. Thank you so much for writing it!

The Things We Do Are Hard is SUCH an accomplishment! The novel-length Frank-recovers-and-falls-in-love-with-Mel slowburn that even I wasn't greedy enough to ask for! And yet you just gave it to us! 136,000 words to savor! What a gift to this fandom! Next time I have a free weekend I'm going to sit down and read it again all in one go and just live in that space for a while. I'm so looking forward to it!

I'm obsessed with this fic. I come back to it at least every couple of months because it's such a lovely little moment in the lives of these two. Sky's prose is so beautiful (always, but I especially love the beginning of the fic and how that kind of repetitive beat is a through line in the fic, it's so good oh my god.) And the last two lines? Makes me feel crazy, I adore it.
