i think it would've been better if all the fey could do magic but like for healing and growing fauna, while nimue was "cursed" and her magic was dangerous/destructive like when she attacks the paladins. it would explain better why the fey feared her and cast her out, and would make her growing that tree under merlin's guidance perhaps the first time she has done something "good". it doesn't mean what she already does can't be good. she could grow one of those trees that trap people but as a fortress for their hiding place.

in contrast to this, if lancelot can create fey fire or something potentially dangerous, he could've been cast out in his village too and that's why he believed father carden so much. fire is not evil either.
