I’m hungover from brunch and dancing all night. I’m glad I’m hungover with you 🤓💕
Love is: my roommate following me around taking pictures of me for my tinder because I suck at taking selfies. Not glamour shots by any means but she took her camera out anytime she thought I looked pretty and that makes my heart warm.
Also, tinder is hilarious in NYC.
Late, but birthday crew. They took me out last year and that was the first time I met them, now they're some of my best friends and the reason this birthday breakup doesn't suck that much ❤ 💕 Tartine. West Village, NYC.
I LOVE Valentine's Day. It's pink, sugary, cheesy, and filled with puns. I love love and I love showing people I love I love them. It's Valentine's Day. I'm still waiting for J to reach out so I can tell him too. With every hour I realize he probably will not. Regardless, I sobbed happy tears uncontrollably in the lab because upon hearing my news this morning, Nicole went out of her way to send me flowers and remind me that "everyone deserves flowers on Valentine's Day". It's really weird to feel the way I do right now. I feel self assured and pumped about life while incredibly frustrated that my other half decided to randomly throw in the towel because he doesn't feel self assured and there is nothing I can do about it *shrugs*. It's hard because I worked hard to get where I am and was excited to share that with this person but 'cest la vie. I have the most wonderful friends, I love genuinely, and I'll be just fine whether he gets over himself and lets me love him or not. Happy Valentine's Day. I feel so lucky and I'm so in love with my life and have no idea what I did to deserve such amazing humans in it.

The big-ness of my apartment.
This morning, I have a good friend staying with me. She is ill and woke me up very early so we could go get meds. I'm really happy she did this because it jump started my day (I was able to get my laundry finished before 9:00am on a Saturday, catch up with my old friend, make us tea, and watch the sunrise from my window. You see, sometimes my apartment starts to feel lonely because it's pretty big (for New York) and my roommate isn't always home. My friend and another friend are in the city and I have things to do, so I'm enjoying my apartment today. It smells like Downy as my clothes dry on the rack and my open window is letting in the sixty degree fall breeze. It smells like a combination of pancakes, coffee, and eucalyptus and all I can hear is my keyboard, my breath, and a honk here and there (because it's still New York). I guess the point of this is to be able to look back later and appreciate where I am at this very second- happy about a morning of lazy productivity and overwhelmed with gratitude about my living arrangement and the ability to share it with visiting friends.
I <3 NY
A small thing on my mind lately and since I haven't been available to romantically write on my tumblr when I’m all thoughtful and starry eyed about NYC, my boyfriend, or science, here’s a snippet..
A friend from the gym was in Colorado recently.. If you’ve been there you know that it’s a truly beautiful state. The air is clean and fresh, the people are beautiful and nice, it’s close to my home. So I asked him how his trip went and he said “it was great, but there’s no place like New York.” You see, what I like about this native New Yorker’s opinion is that he’s not talking about the beautiful bright lights, the hustle and bustle of always having something to do, or even the ~opportunity~. He’s talking about the 24 hour bodegas, clubs not closing until 4:00 AM, and the fact that there’s a CVS or Walgreens on every corner. I just wanted to take time to electronically document my marvel at being able to get a legit deli turkey sandwich on basically every block wherever I am, whenever. I am amazed that I haven’t driven a car (other than visiting NM for a bit) for the last year yet this year has been filled with the most new adventures and ground trekking. I am enamored with the idea of being able to go to the NY Public Library and read all day, then walk outside and shop on Fifth Ave (well, window shop cause $$), walk through Central Park, then maybe get some drinks at a bar on my hour long train ride home that doesn’t even feel like an hour anymore. I love that I live in the Bronx and am able to explore it because I bet I wouldn’t leave Manhattan or Brooklyn otherwise.. I my 1.5 hour commute alone time every day as I head to the gym. And a year later, I STILL love it when strangers on the subway talk to me, sketchy or not. I love this place and I’m so happy I carelessly visited, fell in love, and got my ass living here because it’s truly a dream come true.
SO here’s to my year in NYC and loving it and while sometimes I get homesick, being so incredibly thankful and shocked that I’m even here and able to write this and able to say that this New York minute is to be continued...
