i am in fact working on a prequel of sorts--well, have been working on it since MARCH, but hope to be able to finish it up soonish. writing has been a slow slog this year.

thank you for asking! here’s a little snip:

Steve’s eyes are harder now, all the softness honed into sharp edges, pinning Bucky in place. He knows this look. This is the way Steve looks when he’s about to jump out of a plane, when he’s running into battle. When he’s reaching for his shield. This is the way Steve looks when he’s ready to fight. 

“You want me to leave you alone?” he asks again, eyes never leaving Bucky’s.

“No,” Bucky whispers. 

“But you don’t want me to be nice.” 

“No, I--” Steve’s fingers curl around his throat, cutting him off.
