but really....katsura after shouyous death having to take care of both gintoki and takasugi. they were both crushed, gintoki with the overwhelming guilt and takasugi having to process the lost of his beloved teacher AND his eye. they probably couldnt even look at each other, maybe they werent even able to be in the same room either because gintoki would not be able to or because takasugi would blow it out on him. gintoki probably felt like he deserved to die and takasugi’s thoughts wouldnt have been much better. 

and then there wouldve been katsura in the middle, having to take care of his two most beloved people who he knew were both in incommensurable amounts of pain, who were drifting apart, and having to take care of his own pain too.
