She'll Make You Swoon
We were beyond thrilled when we started working alongside Wendi Koble of Swoon Films last year. She came with us to Seattle to film our adventures up there and it was only fitting because that is actually where I first happened upon Wendi, oh, let's just say LOTS of years ago. More on that later.
Wendi is a ridiculously talented movie maker who consistently blows us away with every video she shares with us and our clients. She first made a video highlighting our sessions in Seattle, and the trailer she did for that video is still one of my favorite things to watch ever.
We wanted to work with Wendi more, so we plotted and planned and devised a way to somehow bring her into our IHI world on a regular basis.
She created her first Mama & Me video with us for one of our favorite mom/daughter duos, Kiersten & GG. It was a hit! That video made us laugh, cry, and want to offer this amazing heirloom product to our clients. Since then, she has created several Mama & Me videos and they never cease to be incredible, poignant, and breathtaking. We can't sing Wendi's praises enough. We feel SO blessed to be collaborating with her.
And now, a fun little back story . . .
I met Wendi in 10th grade, when we were 15. I had moved north of Seattle for a year to live with my dad. Starting at a new high school is never a fun time, not when you're kinda moody, artistic, shy, and (I wasn't public with it at the time ) a lesbian.
First period English class, I sat next to a redhead in a black trench coat. We eventually hit it off and had several 80s-style, gothic adventures that year. We were quiet, a little strange, and creative ~ good friends. But not long after I moved back to California, we lost touch.
{Wendi when we met}
Fast forward 20+ years to a re-connection via the magic of social media . . . Myspace.
I was a photographer, Wendi was a video editor and filmmaker. And best of all, we were both living in the Bay Area! It wasn't long before we got together and had a photo session with Wendi. It was like no time had passed. She was still the same soul I was drawn to so many years before. Friends are funny like that. We had changed in a thousand ways, but I still very much wanted Wendi as my friend. She hit it off swimmingly with Heidi, too, so that made it all the more amazing!

She works so stealthily with us at sessions, we hardly know she's there. Then she spends a few weeks doing her Wendi thing (reviewing her footage, selecting little pieces of your story to weave together, set to the most perfect piece of music) and then reveals movie magic!
Heidi and I are so comfortable working together at this stage, it's seamless. So, as you can imagine, introducing a third person into the mix seemed crazy. But Wendi is a consummate professional and she fits right in! To be working with her so many years later is something I am beyond grateful for.
Still images are one thing. You can handle them, frame them, surround yourself with them, and see them every day if you'd like . . . Moving pictures, though, come with sound, motion and they capture a very different experience. Imagine your daughter having her little voice on video when she's older and getting to see you, her mama, snuggling and playing with her. It's truly priceless.
Wendi is a cherished part of the IHI family. What she can offer you is immeasurable.
