“I’ll kill you.”
Minghao’s voice came out in a growl as he grabbed his alpha by the collar of his shirt and pressed him up against a tree, lifting him up enough that the older wolf had to stand on his toes. However, Soonyoung stayed calm despite Minghao’s aggression -- he had to put up with this with Josh once, and he remembered how that turned out. And while maybe things with Minghao wouldn’t escalate like they had with Joshua before, he knew Minghao was much easier to calm than the older grumpy wolf.
“Hao, relax,” Jia’s voice was totally calm as she sat in the grass with her legs stretched out, Joshua examining her right ankle.
Soonyoung shrugged, “I’m not too worried.”
“Don’t test me,” Minghao lowered his voice menacingly, his golden eyes red now as he tightened his grip on Soonyoung’s shirt.
“It’s not even a big deal, Minghao,” his mate reassured him.
He turned his head to look at her, “Jia, your ankle is broken.”
“Because I tripped on the way home. It’s not like Soonyoung broke it on purpose.”
“He should’ve caught you!”
“I can’t see into the future, y’know,” Soonyoung spoke up, which only made Minghao growl and press him harder into the tree.
“Xu Minghao, stop it!” Jia scolded him with a frown. Even though she wasn’t looking directly at him, he still crumbled under her stare and slowly lowered his alpha. “It was an accident.”
“But you won’t be able to walk until Joshua gets his power back.”
“Yes, and?”
“What do you mean ‘yes, and’?! Jia, that’s not good!”
“Isn’t that a good thing for you?” Jeonghan scoffed. “Jia can’t walk, which means she has to stay with you at home all the time. No more worrying.”
Minghao paused and thought over his words before he lowered his head in embarrassment for lashing out. He offered an apologetic look to Soonyoung.
“Yeah,” the older wolf nodded, “you’re welcome.”
And just like that, Minghao was back to shouting at him, “I’m not thanking you for my mate breaking her ankle!”
