Writing Update

Promised myself I wouldn't do this. :(

But it's been about four months since new content, so I guess I have to.

Bear's health is... not hella great atm. I AM writing, I do still have several different RWBY themed things in the works and they should hopefully be up soon. Soon is HOPEFULLY in the next few days, but I can't make any guarantees right now.

I'm sorry for the unintentional hiatus, but at least Escalopram is treating me better than sertraline did?

I really am feeling better, just... yeah.

Writing Update

Well, I'm still sick, but I'm definitely getting there now! There should hopefully be several fics up in the next few days, and I'm so sorry for the wait!

Covid seems to have really screwed with my health. :(

BUT I'm really liking the way some of these fics are going and I'm excited to share them.

Happy STS! What is one thing your character regrets? If they could, would they go back in time and change it?

Happy STS! I'm so sorry this answer is late!

That depends on the character, again. Different people regret different things.

Tip? Tip's biggest regret is and remains not being able to save Pyrhha and Gretchen. Yes, he very much... dealt with... the hunter that got her killed, but he hated losing a student. Any student, they were at Beacon to learn. Of course he'd go back and change it, their lives mattered too.

Glass' is more... complicated. Gretchen still happened, she's still a regret, but not his biggest one. Honestly? Glass regrets not having committed patricide, not having claimed his siblings as under his protection. He could have done that. It would have been messy, but he could have. Whether he'd go back? No, I don't think he would. But he'd be tempted.

As for Wesley? Well, at this stage he still believes that he went mad, that the Wizard isn't real. He just... outright regrets leaving. Regrets leaving his friends, his twin, his family. Leaving Qrow. He's so scared that that isn't fixable, and he might be right. He'd go back in a heartbeat.

I'm vibrating with ideas and I want to get them out there, but I'm sick again and figured this would be the easier way of doing it for a few days.

Hey, Bear! Happy STS! How do you go about structuring your stories? How do you make sure all of the plot beats are hit when they need to be?

Happy STS, my friend! I mostly keep notes, actually. A LOT of notes, in a great amount of physical notebooks/word documents. [Some of which I then mislay, oops. :(] Timelines, plot points, titles of future installments, the major events in each.

Some of it's in my head, too, but I know where things are going and notes help me keep it that way.

Of course, quite often I do write things on a whim, but there IS an underlying timeline to all my AU's/Works that I try to keep in mind as best I can. Minor beats can change, the major ones? Not so much.

Beats fall where I know they need to fall, mostly. Some of that, again, depends on the timelines, but a few are more character driven, like Qrow giving Tip that teddybear in Mistral.

Happy STS! What weird things are your OCs obsessed with? Does that obsession change or has your OC been a fan of this one thing their entire life?

That would depend on the definition of OC's to be honest.

All my Oz variants like chocolate, just like they do in canon. Glass is semi-obsessed with living his father down, and so is Wes.

Tip is... sort of obsessed with protecting those he cares about, those he loves. It's a bit of a character flaw, to be honest, and it's been taken advantage of a few times.

Talking of the Tipverse, Reuben Arc [who nobody's really met, and doesn't use that name] tends to mostly be obsessed with running his shop and staying out of the war. Because he's sensible.

Talking of the Strangers verse, Gem Escarii tends to be obsessed with causing trouble. [affectionate] He's a joker and can be a bit of an idiot, but he's also a really good person to have at your back.

Happy STS, my friend! What is your favorite worldbuilding detail you've come up with for your story?

That rather depends on which story, to be honest. In the Tipverse, it might be the fact that there's an entire kingdom where Tip was missed, where he has people who love him. That kingdom isn't Vale, though, and him learning that is... painful, at times.

For the Wesley verse, it's probably that it's set in modern times. Semblances and Auras are a relic of the past, there but not really used outside the military. Is that Oz still the wizard? Absolutely. Does he currently believe in magic? No. ... are there people looking FOR the wizard? Oh yes... Wes might need to count his friendships very carefully, and maybe not trust at least one person he really wants to. As for Strangers? Well, that woul be spoiling things. But that version of Jacques Schnee is... quite a lot worse than he is in canon, and is very likely to end up working for Salem. Watts... has certain issues with that, it should be quite a bit of fun!
