for real, if you really only care about “actual canon” then fanfiction is really not for you. Neither is fan art. No fanwork is for you if the only think you want is ‘canon compliance’ because fanwork is inherently not canon. It’s a fan’s interpretation. that’s the whole point.

quite possible you’ve answered this somewhere, sorry if you have, but what’s the thing you use to check the tone and topic of your writing? the one that generates the little pie charts i mean. seems like a neat tool

oh, that’s 750 Words! it’s a super great habit-building tool I’ve been using to encourage myself to write a regulated amount every day. It’s free to use and you earn badges for days of consecutive use. 

The daily goal is 750 words, but you can do more. It keeps track of how long you work for and how many distractions you have -- if you changed tabs from the site, it marks it as a distraction, and if you stop typing for a significant amount of time, it also marks the distraction. When you finish, it generates these stats for you, like the charts I post. I find it very fun and helpful and super recommend it to other people who enjoy writing.
