Before I lay down the figurative elements, I lay down aome graphic shapes fiat that will show through the layers. All you need is matte medium and a little water. I make the matte medium a little diluted and brush it in areas where i need it. Once there is a thin layer of medium, place the stuff down and brush a layer of medium on top too. If you have a squeegee or a large brush, you can push out the excess medium.
