How do you think HL would react to seeing an alternate version of himself with no trauma 🤔 cause I know he'd definitely be jealous of his alternate's family 💀

i feel strongly that this would result in him killing his double to take his place. is there a Diabolical episode about this? if not, there should be.

i can so perfectly see his initial laughter about the situation devolving into hysterical crying and then just pure violence. either he tries to take it for himself or he slaughters them all in an absolute fit about how incredibly unfair it is that he should be the one to suffer his life. completely irrational sense of 'where were you when i needed you?'

as for meeting his alternate self, that would just be twisting the knife and pouring salt in the wound to see everything he could have been if someone, anyone, had just loved him.

#i only have time to draw like. one day a week #when there's a comic you try to update monthly it goes by pretty quick #but right now i can't see where it's going + it's getting hard to spend 8-10 hours on a page that will get 2-3 comments #and then there's wanting to draw every character in an unrelated video game and then some #and then. i sit down like. this is my weekly drawing window. i haven't drawn in a week i'm gonna draw so much / wrong !! it's all shit #in fact the very concept of a drawing window sucks because it ended up being an obligation/pressure #and then i'll just boot up medibang and sit paralyzed in front of my 40 wips ! lol !!#weugh #cool story pyro

more serious question: so like. whats the deal with irkens and furiendship. how do they coincide ideals of individualism with collectivism. are they all supposed to duke it out all the time?

Having friends is frowned upon because it's seen as favoring an individual over the collective.

Irkens, despite being a collectivist society, aren't 100% like. Not allowed to be their own people. There's just requirements and restrictions.

If you being yourself means your focus isn't on the empire, that's obviously not allowed. If you being yourself hurts your productivity, that's not allowed. Irkens aren't just like. Some mindless drones. They have big personalities! They just also have a job to do, which is more important than any right to individuality (which they don't have a right to.. it's a privelege that is easily taken away)

I imagine a good portion of an Irkens personality is locked behind some kind of mental wall. Which is why defectives come off as,, so,,, extra. Because that wall is broken so they're just. Painfully themselves.

Soo uhh I'm nauseous so ummm summarized:

The idea of individuality is very shameful and frowned upon in Irken society because it's seen as a distraction from your job and the collective, but as long as you're not falling behind on your work they usually let it slide. Friendships and whatnot are highly discouraged. But also Irkens don't really know what is and isn't a friendship. Like there's coworker relationships n whatnot. Sometimes it becomes more than that but everyone's like "oh well they're just working together so it's probably fine" soooo

Friends are okay as long as they're working together to build a cool gun that kills you for the empire but also don't say you're friends. You're not friends you're coworkers.
