I paced the floor of my living quarters. I couldn't help but be worried; after all, Weyoun was never late. He made it a point to be punctual, stating that he wished to put as much effort into this relationship as he could, and that included him always arriving on time to any of our dates or get-togethers.
I worried my lip for the umpteenth time before my com came to life. "Bashir to Lieutenant Reed." Dr. Bashir's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. I jumped before tapping the badge, "Cassidy here, what's up, Julian?" I asked, pausing midstep.
"I'd recommend coming to the medbay, theres been a mishap that requires your attention," He told me, an edge of hesitation and worry seeped through his voice. I felt my heart drop in my chest "R-Right away Doctor, Reed out." I tapped my badge again and headed for my quarters doors. What happened? Is this connected with Weyoun? Did something happen to him?
It felt like forever before the lift came to a stop, I walked as fast as my legs could carry me before rushing into medbay, unable to contain my thoughts and worries. "Bashir? Hello?" I called, glancing around for my good friend. "In here" He called from one of the patient rooms.
I briskly walked over, turning the corner to find Julian taking readings on... a lemur? It looks similar to one, at least, though it was tinted purple and definitely alien. It had bright violet eyes that reminded me of my dear Weyoun, the fur was mainly composed of dark brown, like his hair, and a deep purple, with a lighter purple around its face, creating a mask, and its ears....its ears look a lot like a Vorta's. I paused in the doorway as I stared at the lemur; more and more it seemed to resemble a vorta, and even more so resembled Weyoun's colors, especially its eyes.
Julian turned to me as he read over his device's report and frowned softly. "I take it by the look on your face you know this is Weyoun." He glanced at the lemur that was sitting on the medbay's biobed. It chirped softly at me and shuffled closer on the edge of the bed towards me. I couldn't take my eyes off him. This is my Weyoun? What happened?
I slowly walked forward and scooped Weyoun into my arms. He was very light, almost like a cat from Earth. "What happened?" I whispered, looking Weyoun over in disbelief. How did he become a lemur? What kind of anomaly did this? I couldn't help but smile as Weyoun rubbed his face against my cheek and chirped again. He was trying to comfort me the best he could. His small paw came up to rest on my cheek as he leaned back in my arms to stare at me.
"Like I said before, an anomaly occurred briefly in the upper living quarters. It appears no one was in that area except Weyoun when it happened. We're looking into how this happened and how to reverse it, so don't worry Cassidy, he hopefully won't be like this forever," Julian lightly jested.
I nodded, finally breaking eye contact with Weyoun to turn to Julian, "Thank you, keep us in the loop, please. I'm going to take him back to my quarters. I don't think that he'd enjoy people seeing him like this." I bowed my head softly in gratitude and made my way out of the medbay, with Julian calling an "I'll contact you if anything comes up!" on my way out.
I paused just before the exit and slid the shawl of my casual clothes over Weyoun, shielding him slightly in my arms, his long tail still stuck out, but it was better than nothing. Weyoun was still watching me closely, I could see him in my peripheral vision. I couldn't be sure what he was thinking, but it was likely something along the lines of 'Well, this isn't how I wanted to spend my evening' or maybe 'I'm sorry I'm late'.

Back in my quarters, Weyoun shimmied in my arms until he could climb onto my shoulder and sigh, "I'm sorry Weyoun, I know this isn't how today was supposed to go." I mumble softly, making our way to the couch. A soft rumble noise greets my ears, almost akin to a cat's trilling noise. Weyoun hopped into my lap and curled up there, his ears twitching softly, surely hearing sounds from around my quarters and neighbors all around. I'd never put much thought into how sensitive his ears really were. Are they more sensitive now? Can he see better?
I reached over him to the table, where I had set some kava nuts out for Weyoun to snack on while we talk on the couch, a favorite pastime of his, getting to relax with me here. I scooped a few into my hand and held one up for him. He made the rumble sound again and grabbed it, stuffing it in his mouth and rolling over to look up at me as he enjoyed his snack. Is that a laugh?
I smiled at him and couldn't help the soft laugh that escaped me "I'm sorry Im sorry" I waved my hand as he narrowed his eyes at me "I'm not making fun of you or the situation, its just-" I let my hand rest on his head, gently petting his head "You look so cute" I cooed at him. He made the rumble sound again, louder this time. That must be a laugh, he finds it amusing too
"Can I pet you?" I ask, for some reason, this made me nervous. We'd been dating for a few months now, and he was the easiest person to talk to, finding most things amusing. This feels different though, like I should tread carefully; he might get offended or upset quickly due to the circumstances.
He pauses and seems to consider my question before chirping, grabbing my hand, and bringing it to his face so he can rub his cheek against it. His fur was so soft, it was like silk, yet it was still firm. It was an odd sensation to say the least. He did it again and peeked one eye open to watch my reactions, taking in my look of awe and wonder.
"So soft," I whispered before I even realized I'd said anything. Weyoun took this chance to hop up and rub against my hand, arching into it and letting it coast down his back and tail, giving his tail a small flick when my hand left it, his tail coming to lightly pat my face, the rumble softly reaching my ears. "Hey!" I laughed, grabbing on his tail more firmly, only for his tail to slip out of my hands again. A small smile graced his features, and he repeated his actions before settling back in my lap. I handed him another kava nut and watched him enjoy it. It went on like this for another hour and a half before I realized it was getting late.
I stretched and glanced down at Weyoun, his eyes struggling to stay open as he peered up at me, covered in my shawl from earlier. "I think it's time for bed," I told him, covering a yawn at the end of my sentence. He got up and stretched, his tail flicking similarly to a squirrel's before he jumped onto my shoulder and settled his face against my neck. I laughed softly and brought a hand up to both steady him and pet his back, and I stood us up, making our way to my bedroom.
I changed into a simple t-shirt and a pair of Weyoun's boxer's I'd stolen last week and climbed into bed, Weyoun hopping onto the bed to come settle beside me. "Here," I lifted the covers so he could crawl under and settle against my front. He shimmied a little to get comfy before resting with a large sigh and licking his lips, probably for any stray flavoring of the kava nuts he'd been munching on earlier.
I brought the covers back down and snuggled him; his soft fur gently tickled my nose as we drifted off to sleep. Hopefully, tomorrow they'd find a way to return him to normal, for now he was safe and sound in my quarters, away from the prying eyes of any who'd wish him harm.

I was woken by my coms, Bashir again calling for me "Hello Julian, what's up?" I asked, the grogginess evident in my voice.. I felt Weyoun shuffle in the blankets at my side. His little head popped out, and his ears unfolded from the covers to stand tall. His bleary eyes blinked softly at me. Oops I smiled sleepily at him and scritched the middle of his head. A soft purring sound emitted from his throat, and he laid his head back down, ears twitching. "We've made some headway into what happened, we should be able to replicate the incident and revert Weyoun back to normal in a few hours!" Julian cheered through the comlink. I sat up more and grinned at the sleepy Lemur lounging on my stomach. "That's great news!" I rejoiced, lifting Weyoun's sleepy body to my chest to hug him tightly, burying my nose in his soft fur, receiving a small chirp in reply. He always likes to sleep in, seems this is no different I thought to myself. "I'll let you know when everything is in place. Enjoy the rest of your morning Lieutenant," Julian called before ending the link. Weyoun lifted his head from my shoulder and lightly pushed against my cheek, drawing my head from his neck. Giving me a small lick on the nose, he made his way down the bed before hopping off and lifting onto his back legs to look over the top of the bed at me, before looking back to the doorway. "Ah, okay, I got your hint" I said with a groan as my limbs protested the sudden movement of slinging my legs off the bed to stand. I stretch my body out with a grunt before following the small Weyoun through the door, him scampering along to go to the replicator. He jumped from the kitchen stool to the counter and chirped, ear twitching as he grinned at me.
"Rippleberries and kava nuts please" I call, watching the blue light as a bowl of rippleberries and a smaller bowl of kava nuts materialize. Weyoun rumbled happily and bounced lightly in place, following my hand with his eyes as I set the two bowls on the counter beside him.
"Bowl of sliced strawberries and bananas with a side of buttered toast, slightly golden," I called again, and retrieved my food. I moved to settle in the chair across from Weyoun, popping a banana slice in my mouth as I watched him eat. It was still so odd to see him like this. My Weyoun usually liked to chat with me all breakfast long, so this silence was unnatural, to say the least. "I won't lie, all your little noises are so endearing," I murmured before biting into a strawberry. Weyoun paused eating his rippleberry to blink at me, as if he couldn't believe his ears. I could imagine him blushing in embarrassment right now. For someone so good at sweet-talking, he gets flustered easily when it's turned back at him.
He chittered and finished off the rippleberry in his paw before shuffling across the counter to be closer to me. His tiny fingers grabbed the edge of his rippleberry bowl to drag it closer as well before he flopped down, rolling on his back and resting his head on my forearm, looking up at me. I laughed and picked out a sliced strawberry, holding it up for him to try. "You might like it!" I proposed, tapping it against his furry chin. He squinted at me before carefully taking it from me, watching his small but sharp nails.
Popping it in his mouth, Weyoun chewed thoughtfully before licking his lips and snatching one out of my bowl, popping that one in his mouth too, mischief in his eyes. "I'll take that as a yes," I said with a giggle.
We sat and ate our breakfast together, waiting for Julian to call us to medbay. As cute as lemur Weyoun was, I did want my normal boyfriend back.

I fastened my shawl over my shoulders and brought up the hood, letting Weyoun slide in to lie on my shoulders, his head peeking out near my neck, his long tail lightly twitching the fabric at my back. He was partially hidden, which would have to do for now.
The trip to the lift today was much more hopeful than yesterday's worried half dash. Strolling through the promenade, Weyoun chirped quietly in my ear as I fidgeted with the hood. With a small noise of encouragement and soothing, I settled my hand back to my side. No one would see him; no one had to know he was in a vulnerable position right now and weaker than usual. I couldn't help but worry; after all, Weyoun's public image meant a lot to him. Vorta were naturally not very strong, but they were quick and graceful. With how small and weak his current state was, anyone could hurt him if they really tried.
"Lieutenant! Welcome in, we have everything prepared! Right this way," Julian greeted as we made our way to the mouth of the medbay. He ushered us to the back, where a new device sat, a large tube with a white partial casing. It was hooked up to the main computer, where Julian settled in his seat, clicking a few buttons. "If Weyoun could please stand in the tube, we can begin." Julian announced, turning to us with a smile.
I walked over and carefully took Weyoun off my shoulders and placed him in the middle of the tube. As I stepped out, I noted how he looked so small and pitiful alone in the weird tube. The tube slid shut, and his paw came to rest on the glass, watching me. His ears twitched, and he cocked his head to the side. I couldn't help the frown that made its way on my face, my eyebrows furrowing as I watched him. I know this will fix him, but he looked so alone.
The tube lit up a soft blue and then green, a bar of light whooshed up and down the length of the tube, and Weyoun chittered and growled, scrambling backward. It looked almost painful as he began to change back to his prior self.
There at the bottom of the tube, now lay a fully nude but normal Weyoun. He groaned and held his head, the tube slip open and he sat up. "That was awful doctor" He grumbled, stretching his arms and testing his joints. "Apologies, we had to essentially rapidly evolve you back to your current self." Julian told him, reaching over and grabbing a pile of clothes I hadn't noticed earlier, and handed them to him.
I coughed and turned around, giving him privacy as he changed. Soon, his arms came slithering around my waist and pulled me to him. "Oh how I missed being able to hold you" He sighed, nuzzling my neck. I laughed softly and turned in his arms to return the hug. I glanced at Julian over Weyoun's shoulder, shooting him an appreciative smile and nod, receiving the same in return.
"Thank you doctor, I'm glad I wasn't stuck like that!" Weyoun exclaimed as he released me and turned to Julian, giving a slight bow of his head.
"Anytime, that's what I'm here for." Julian grinned, proud that he was able to solve the problem and help another patient. I let out a squeal as Weyoun quickly scooped me into his arms and carried me out of medbay. "Now! I believe we had a date planned, did we not? Allow me to make up for our lost time my dear.” His cheeky smile melted as I kissed him, so happy to have him back.
