Okay but what if Nicky WASN'T a bard or a paladin...but a cleric
(i know that techincally he's no class cause he just has the statblock of a Balor but like... that's no fun)
But anyway, why clerics you may ask. Easy: it's THE combo of both a bard (supportive spell caster) AND a paladin (religious defense focused class) while doing neither quite 'correctly' i guess.
When it comes to sub-classes Nick Close would be either a Peace Domain cleric or Trickery, i think. Peace domain is mechanically the closest to being a bard (even getting a sort of budget bardic inspiration) while trickery just sounds like Nick would have fun with that. Nicolas would DEFINITELY be a Order Domain Cleric - these guys are just bossier paladins.
And Nicky? I'm thinking something that's fully melee focused like War or Death Domain, since he doesn't seem like much of a support. Or Twilight, because it fits the whole demon stuff really well and give you both supportive and dps capabilities.
