All on a whim

It's a fine line between acting on a whim and being reactionary. Acting on a whim tends to not be very well-thought out, Holden Caulfield esque you might say; and subsequently have a much higher chance of looking like an asshole. On the other hand, a quick reactionary thought is something that actually has some semblance of sense to it, and tends to offend less people. A whim tends to be done by lulz while thinking clearly before acting may still result in lulz albeit without the expense of one's dignity.
