I just noticed that the Mariinsky changed the tutus in the Kingdom of the Shades and I'm not sure how I feel about this. I was quite partial to the fuller, romantic style tutus because they echodd the tutus in the grand pas. Plus, they had this ruching across the chest that was a lovely vintage detail as worn by Tereshkina:
Now they have platter tutus with sleeker bodices. The change isn't that radical as they used to use the platter-style tutus not that long ago.
Here you can see some clips from Act III. The first video is from a few years ago, and the second is likely from 2009. At that time, they were using a platter-style tutu, but it had some "waviness" to it that these new one don't have. I couldn't find a recent clip on YouTube from the recent run of La Bayadere, so this is just as close as I could get.
