What I mean: I really wish Ubisoft had let us choose what to do with John Seed instead of forcing us to kill him because I sincerely believe we could have helped each other. All he wanted was to do a good job so that Joseph would be proud of him. He longed for the day he could finally see himself as a valuable, worthwhile person. He hoped he could achieve salvation and get free from the pain of his past by inflicting it on others. He tried to find a way to escape his own suffering but ended up spreading it and making it worse when the solution, as Joseph said, was what years of abuse and self-destruction made him forget: love, kindness, and joy. All we could do was respond with more violence and wrath when it would have been way more constructive to offer understanding and compassion to end this endless circle of loss and pain. We could have initiated a positive change that would have been beneficial for everyone involved. I wish we could have said ‘YES’ and meant it because, honestly, he just wanted us to listen. He wanted us to understand, to believe, to care, and the game didn’t let us do any of this. We could have given him so much more than hatred and rejection, especially as he was slowly starting to understand what love was again and how to finally open up his heart to it. Though his methods were clearly wrong he genuinely wanted to save us, to help us. And you know what? By accepting his offer we could have saved him in return and possibly the rest of the world. We would have been his greatest accomplishment, his actual key to paradise. He was counting on us and we had no choice but to let him down. He deserved better than this, better than to be thrown on the ground and to die in a puddle of mud. We deserved better.
