Had decided to go to see Wicked with my sister on Wednesday not realising Charlotte was going to be in the bubble in the matinee (I unfortunately didn't go to Chloe’s show on Sunday and had no idea) so had planned to get to Victoria at around 7, thankfully the lovely Rukaya put me in the know so we ended up getting the first train out and arriving at Victoria around 6-ish (pretty much only just getting tickets for the matinee!, eeep!) managed to get seat 17 for the Matinee and 22 for the evening.
Going to move straight onto the show and put all stage door antics afterwards.
The matinee was a Charlotte/Rachel show and can I just say that Charlotte was absolutely amazing; it was strange for me to be so excited because normally I tend to get attached to certain people playing the roles
(This show has changed mindset when it comes to understudies and stuff because I love David, Nikki and Charlotte as the leads as well now, with David fast becoming my favourite Fiyero and I actually get excited when a new person plays the lead roles!)
Charlottes portrayal of G(a)linda was absolutely brilliant and I loved how she added her own take to the role, her Glinda really reminded me of Louise especially during Popular.
her "Popular" made me cry with laughter, the toss toss kick she did was adorable and when Rachel copied it I pretty much lost it!
I was begging Rachel in my mind to do a little kick when she falls off the bed and stands up again but to be honest if that had happened I would have been on the floor laughing!.
Charlotte really grew into the character by "Thank Goodness" which is an amazing achievement with this being her first show and I found myself shedding a tear numerous times (either from laughter or sadness for the character)
Before I babble on too much, she completely blew me away, I felt so happy for her when I heard people around me who had never seen the show before singing her praises and saying how amazing the “Glinda” was, I hope she gets to be considered for Stand By Glinda in the future if not lead!, I would be more than happy to see her again if this is how good she is on her first show!.
Onto the evening show!, this was a Tuckina show with Gina back in the bubble, it was a brilliant show to send Rachel off on her holiday and I really felt them both letting go and putting everything they had into the characters.
What Is This Feeling was the best I've ever seen it done, at one point they really shouted in each other’s faces at “Loathing” and I remember sitting there in awe at that song, Rachel and her little “Glinda” dance was hilarious as always as was the “bump” she does pushing Glinda/Gina out of the way.
I always love it when she can’t stop laughing at the end after the “Boo”, the faces Rachel pulls in the early Glinda hating stages are so brilliant, her face is so expressive!
Popular always makes me laugh, more so last night though but as I said they all seemed to really kick it up a notch yesterday!.
Tuckers "Defying Gravity" and "No Good Deed" made me sit back in my chain with my mouth open, it was just that good.
I loved seeing how happy Rachel was at the curtain call with her mouthing ciao to the orchestra pit and the insane amount of waving she did, I got a little wink from her and Matt during the matinee which was lovely after the stage door experience I had before the show but I'll move onto that now!
Stage door;
This was one of my favourite stage door experiences with the lovely chats I had with Gina/David/Rachel and Matt before the show
Gina got a bit excited about the new wizard coming in after I mentioned the new program.
Rachel turned up first and I said a quick hello then saw she was concentrating on my necklace looking deep in thought so I started saying how we are going to both shows and how excited we were then she stopped me and said "are you the girl that gave me that necklace a while back?" then she realised I had a different design on to the one I gave her and she started saying "No.. maybe not" I told her that yes that was indeed me that gave it to her and she started babbling about how much she loves it, I didn't know what to say to that so I just said thank you and told her to have an amazing holiday, we then got pictures and she went inside, I can't even put into words how much I love that woman, I turn into a freak when I start talking to her and I can never seem to find what to say but she is so lovely it doesn't matter.
Anyway David turned up and we got photos and discussed how lovely the weather was joking that anything was better than the horrific rain we've had recently, got lovely pictures with him and he went on his way.
Then Matt turned up, to be honest the times I have met him before it's always been a bit rushed and it's always been a "picture?, thank you have a good show" kind of thing but this afternoon he came up and while I was babbling on he started getting really animated about my necklaces going "Oooooooh Dancing through life??, that's awesome!" to which I explained to him that I kind of design them myself he said he was very impressed and kept saying how much he loved it then we got pictures, I actually love my picture with him because he really pulled me in close grinning and squeezed my shoulder, lovely man.
The stage door after the show was great as well Andrew was being especially hilarious with his “artwork” for the girls next to us and Rachel’s little “yay I’m off to Italy” dance was very cute, so jealous of the fact that she is waking up there now (probably), I’d love to go to Italy!
Amazing amazing day with lovely people, just annoyed at myself being so shy that I didn’t get involved more in the day seat queue, curse my shyness!, had loads of fun with my sister though listening to Wicked songs and just being silly <3
Ok I think I’ll end this here before I start rambling more than I have already, once I start typing I just can't stop.
If you read all this
-cyber hug-
I can't wait until my next trip to Oz (so busy the next month but aiming for the 25th August!) <3
